Senior Intelligent Transportation Systems / Technology Engineer

In this role you will lead ITS/Technology design from internal teams and external consultants to deliver reliable, cost-effective tech assets for the M25 project. You will coordinate across design, asset, and PM teams, ensuring compliant, high-quality outcomes aligned with CPS standards and National Highways requirements. You’ll drive innovation, optimize whole-life costs, and support sustainability goals within a flagship highway project.

• Lead ITS/Technology design schemes from internal and external sources
• Deliver on time and to budget for technology assets (CCTV, signals, VMS, ERT, MIDAS, etc)
• Produce, check and certify designs and reports for submission to National Highways
• Modulate briefs with the design team and suppliers to meet scope and budget
• Support design reviews and ensure compliance with DBFO contract and CPS standards
• Liaise with National Highways and internal CPS/CP teams; manage stakeholder expectations
• Contribute to continuous improvement and learning across the project and broader business
• Deputise for line manager and ensure CDM Principal Designer duties are met
• Prepare option studies, whole life costing, and in-house design of selected packages
• Manage design supplier instructions, costs, and verify invoices

• Vocational engineering qualifications (BEng/BSc/HNC/HND)
• Membership of IET or IHE (working towards IEng/CEng)
• Competent in ITS/Technology design and assessment
• CDM knowledge; able to perform Designer’s and Principal Designer duties
• Excellent IT skills; proficient with Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of design/assessment standards (DMRB/MCHW/IEC; 18th Edition IET)
• Experience with ITS equipment (CCTV, signals, VMS, ERT, MIDAS)
• CSCS card; UK driving licence
