Senior iOS Engineer

In this role, you will design and deliver scalable iOS experiences for a global audience, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ship high-quality features. You’ll contribute to architecture, performance, and reliability while advancing engineering practices. You’ll help drive the mobile product’s impact across Economist platforms and enrich user experiences. • Design, build, and maintain scalable iOS apps using Swift and modern frameworks such as SwiftUI
• Contribute to evolving application architecture for performance and maintainability
• Collaborate with Product and Design to deliver user-centric features
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks to improve responsiveness
• Contribute to code quality via reviews, standards, and best practices
• Support improvements in testing, CI/CD, and release processes
• Coordinate with backend and cross-platform teams for end-to-end solutions
• Mentor engineers and help raise the engineering bar within the team

• Professional iOS development experience
• Strong proficiency in Swift and modern iOS frameworks (SwiftUI, UIKit)
• Experience building and maintaining production-grade mobile applications
• Solid understanding of mobile architecture patterns and best practices
• Experience with performance optimisation, debugging, and memory management
• Familiarity with testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and mobile observability
• Ability to contribute to technical discussions and influence design decisions
