Senior IoT Tech Lead

As Senior Technical Lead at UCL, you will drive the scalable IoT data platform and enable data democratisation, AI innovation, and regulatory compliance. You’ll provide advanced technical leadership to architect, build, and scale enterprise IoT capabilities within cross-functional teams. You’ll shape software engineering practices, security, and deployment across cloud and edge environments. • Provide advanced technical leadership for architecting, building and scaling the IoT platform
• Define software design and coding standards across one or more languages
• Oversee dependency management, builds, and unit/integration testing
• Lead CI/CD, static analysis, and deployment/release processes
• Manage configuration and cloud platform usage, ensuring interoperability
• Guide IoT/WoT technologies, protocols, and security models
• Engage stakeholders across business, product, and architecture domains
• Oversee data streaming and event processing using technologies like Kafka/Pulsar

• Strong software engineering background
• Experience leading small engineering teams
• Familiarity with IoT/WoT technologies and standards
• Knowledge of IoT protocols (UDP, MQTT, CoAP, BLE, CBOR, Modbus, Zigbee, OPC-UA, BACnet, CAN)
• Experience with IoT platforms/gateways (Azure IoT, AWS IoT, Google IoT, EMQX, ThingsBoard, HiveMQ)
• Understanding of IoT security threat models and access control
• Experience with data streaming (Apache Kafka, Apache Pulsar)
