Senior IT Systems Engineer

In this role you will maintain and improve secure, on-site IT systems in a high-assurance, air-gapped environment. You will own third-line incidents and drive infrastructure upgrades, focusing on virtualised VMware platforms and Windows Server environments. You’ll ensure continuity through robust backup, recovery, and change management, working closely with delivery teams. This hands-on position offers meaningful impact in a trusted, technically demanding setting.

• Provide third-line incident resolution across the secure infrastructure
• Administer and maintain Microsoft Windows Server environments including Active Directory
• Manage and optimise VMware-based virtual infrastructure (vSphere/ESXi/vCenter)
• Oversee backup and recovery with Veeam to ensure data resilience
• Maintain up-to-date technical documentation and enforce change control
• Contribute to system improvements and proactive maintenance for service stability

• Proven server infrastructure support and administration experience
• Solid VMware knowledge (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter)
• Hands-on experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy
• Experience with backup and recovery tooling (Veeam)
• Familiarity with ITIL principles and service management
• Basic Linux knowledge (desirable)
• Experience with DFS, DHCP, DNS, Clustering (desirable)
• SharePoint 2016 support/administration (desirable)
• HP infrastructure exposure (Synergy, OneView, SAN) (desirable)
