Senior Java Developer 12 month contract Hybrid working – Multiple UK office locations £700-£750 per day Inside IR35 Network IT are currently recruiting for a Senior Java Developer to help design, build and support software products that underpin numerous digital user-focused services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and lead strategies for building reusable Java libraries, services and software components.
  • Shape medium to long term technical strategies for product lines and the wider software engineering community.
  • Collaborate with architecture and engineering teams to design robust, resilient and scalable systems.
  • Champion software engineering best practice, including clean code, testing, documentation, maintainability and modern standards.
  • Identify, investigate and support the resolution of infrastructure and production issues.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and continuous improvement across the wider engineering community.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Experience in Java software development, ideally in complex, medium- to high-impact environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Spring Boot and modern backend engineering practices.
  • Experience with cloud-based environments, preferably AWS.
  • Experience with event-driven or distributed systems, ideally using Kafka.
  • Experience working with MongoDB.
  • Experience designing, coding, testing, correcting and documenting complex programmes, services or scripts using agreed standards and tools.
  • Ability to guide others in applying modern software engineering standards, methods and tooling.
  • Experience designing systems with medium levels of technical or business complexity, including reviewing designs and selecting appropriate technologies.
  • Understanding of service resilience, operational stability, robustness, availability and production support.
  • Ability to collaborate with product, architecture, user research and delivery teams to ensure solutions meet genuine user needs.
