Overview
In this role you will build and evolve scalable backend services for Prime Finance equities platforms using Kotlin and Java. You will work within a cross-functional team to modernize production systems and support platform transformation and market expansion. You will tackle performance, reliability, and data-processing challenges in a cloud-native, event-driven architecture. You will drive technical excellence, mentor engineers, and collaborate with stakeholders across the equities domain.
Responsibilities- Design, develop and maintain backend services for trading and post-trade platforms
- Build scalable event-driven applications and messaging-based integrations
- Develop services in Kotlin and Java within JVM ecosystems
- Contribute to architecture decisions and technology choices
- Advocate for TDD to ensure quality across the lifecycle
- Implement reliable data processing, event replay, and failure recovery
- Participate in CI/CD pipelines and frequent production deployments
- Analyze and resolve complex production and performance issues
- Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders across the equities domain
- Mentor engineers and promote technical excellence
- Apply knowledge of capital markets workflows to solution design
- 7+ years of Java development experience
- Kotlin experience preferred or willingness to learn Kotlin
- Hands-on capital markets experience, especially trade lifecycle and post-trade processing
- Experience building event-driven distributed systems
- Deep understanding of messaging concepts (ordering, resiliency, replay, failure handling)
- Strong TDD practices with end-to-end quality ownership
- Solid experience in Agile delivery, CI/CD, and trunk-based development
- Knowledge of trade booking, position management, settlement, accounting, and cashflows
- Strong system design and architectural decision-making skills
- Ability to operate autonomously in complex, business-critical environments
