Overview

In this role you will shape and deliver scalable backend services for a critical market-infrastructure platform, with a strong focus on AWS cloud-native development. You’ll work within a collaborative team to design, implement, and maintain robust Scala-based systems, driving engineering excellence and best practices. You’ll contribute to the product lifecycle and help grow the judging standards and technical direction. This is a hands-on, ownership-driven position in a dynamic, cross-functional environment that values quality and impact.

Responsibilities
  • Own and contribute to design and implementation of robust, scalable backend services
  • Engage in end-to-end product engineering lifecycle including solutioning, coding, and testing
  • Promote collaboration, transparency, and high-quality outcomes within the team
  • Apply LSEG engineering principles and foster a culture of ownership and excellence
  • Create an engaging, challenging, and respectful team environment with a strong one-team mindset
Key requirements
  • Event-driven microservices architecture knowledge
  • Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and event-driven principles
  • Containerization with Docker and Kubernetes
  • DevOps pipelines experience (GitLab preferred)
  • Shift-left testing with JUnit, Cucumber, Gherkin, PACT, Test Containers
  • Experience with Kafka and MQ
  • Advanced Scala programming across functional and OO paradigms
  • Expertise with Akka, Play Framework, Cats/Scalaz
  • Production experience delivering enterprise-grade Scala apps with emphasis on quality, resilience, performance, observability
  • Strong SQL with Postgres; AWS S3; Flyway/Liquibase; cloud services (Aurora, MSK, S3, IAM)
  • AWS cloud experience and basic cloud networking understanding
  • Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and cross-functional collaboration
  • Experience in building web apps with ReactJS and some Java is a plus
