Overview
In this role you will design and develop Java-based trading software for Adaptive’s front-office technology platform. You will work within cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance solutions that underpin capital markets workflows. You will write clean code, participate in Agile processes, and help push engineering excellence across products like Aeron, Hydra, and Artio. This is a hands-on, collaborative role with a strong impact on the speed and reliability of trading systems.

Responsibilities
- Design and develop Java applications and libraries
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code
- Troubleshoot and debug Java applications for performance
- Conduct unit testing and ensure code quality
- Participate in code reviews for maintainability and reusability
- Keep up-to-date with Java trends and technologies
- Participate in Agile development and best practices
- Pair with team members to ensure high-quality outcomes
Key requirements
- Experience in Java server-side software development
- Expertise in Java technologies with Core Java (minimum Java 17)
- Knowledge of data injection/IoC
- Experience with messaging technologies
- Familiarity with data structures (sets, hashes, caches)
- Knowledge of concurrency, resiliency, caching, HTTP, REST
- Understanding of Agile software development methodologies
- DevOps collaboration for deployment
- Bug fixing and feature enhancements experience
- Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
- Excellent communication skills for stakeholders
- Exposure to FIX, ITCH financial protocols
