Senior Java Engineer

As Senior Java Engineer, you will join a specialist payments engineering team delivering large-scale transformation programmes for major financial institutions. You will build cloud-native payment processing platforms using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices, primarily in AWS. You will develop event-driven services with Kafka and support modern payment solutions and integrations. You’ll collaborate with architects, engineers, and banking clients to drive critical transformation initiatives and modernise legacy systems.

• Develop and enhance enterprise-scale payment processing solutions
• Build cloud-native applications using Java, Spring Boot and microservices
• Work in AWS environments to deliver resilient, scalable platforms
• Support implementation of modern payment solutions and integrations
• Develop event-driven services using Kafka
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and stakeholders throughout the delivery lifecycle
• Work closely with banking clients on transformation initiatives

• Strong commercial Java development experience
• Expertise in Spring Boot and microservices-based architectures
• Experience working within AWS cloud environments
• Knowledge of Apache Kafka and asynchronous messaging
• Strong understanding of ISO 20022 payments standards
• Hands-on experience with the ICON IPF framework
• Experience with major banking or financial services organisations
