Senior Java Engineer

In this role you will contribute to building and evolving the FTSE-Russell Index platform within LSEG. You’ll work with a global team to design, develop, and optimize high-precision financial data calculations and services. You will collaborate across product, UX, and engineering to deliver robust, scalable solutions and provide Level 3 production support when needed. • Design, develop, and maintain complex Java and Python applications and services
• Architect new or reused systems to drive complex applications
• Collaborate with Product Managers, UX, and engineers globally
• Lead requirements gathering, design, testing, and deployment
• Establish automated tests and ensure robustness, scalability, and security
• Resolve production issues with root-cause analysis and timely fixes
• Mentor junior developers and perform code reviews
• Provide Level 3 production support to minimize business disruption

• Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or Electronics / Electrical Engineering
• 10+ years of backend software development experience
• Strong Java core skills and data structures knowledge
• Proficiency in Python and its libraries/frameworks
• Experience with relational databases (Oracle/SQL Server/Postgres)
• DevOps and CI/CD tooling experience (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab)
• Docker and Kubernetes familiarity
• Microservices and REST APIs
• Multi-threading and concurrency understanding
• Experience with performance optimization and JVM profiling
• Mentor experience and Scrum/Agile exposure
• Familiarity with in-memory caching, Kafka, and testing frameworks (BDD)
