Overview

As a Senior Java Engineer in a specialist payments engineering team, you will help modernise core banking payment platforms for major financial institutions. You’ll work on cloud-native solutions, applying modern engineering practices to large-scale transformations. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams and banking clients to deliver resilient, scalable payment systems. This role offers exposure to leading financial institutions and cutting-edge payments technology in a flexible, remote-friendly setup.

Responsibilities
  • Develop enterprise-scale payment processing solutions
  • Build cloud-native applications using Java, Spring Boot and microservices
  • Operate in AWS environments to deliver resilient platforms
  • Support modern payment solutions and integrations
  • Develop event-driven services using Kafka
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers and stakeholders across delivery lifecycle
  • Work closely with banking clients on transformation initiatives
Key requirements
  • Strong commercial Java development experience
  • Expertise in Spring Boot and microservices architectures
  • Experience with AWS cloud environments
  • Knowledge of Apache Kafka and asynchronous messaging
  • Strong understanding of ISO 20022 payments standards
  • Hands-on experience with the ICON IPF framework
  • Experience with major banking or financial services organisations
