Senior Java Engineer

As a Senior Java Engineer, you join a specialist payments engineering team delivering large-scale transformation programmes for major financial institutions. You will build cloud-native solutions and modern payment platforms, collaborating with cross-functional peers to modernise critical systems. You’ll work with AWS, Spring Boot, microservices, and event-driven architectures to support secure, scalable banking transformations. This is a hands-on, impact-focused role in a growing payments practice with exposure to leading financial clients.

• Develop and enhance enterprise-scale payment processing solutions
• Build cloud-native applications using Java, Spring Boot and microservices
• Work within AWS environments to deliver resilient, scalable platforms
• Support the implementation of modern payment solutions and integrations
• Develop event-driven services using Kafka
• Collaborate with architects, engineers and stakeholders across the delivery lifecycle
• Engage with banking clients on critical transformation initiatives

• Strong commercial experience with Java development
• Expertise in Spring Boot and microservices-based architectures
• Experience working within AWS cloud environments
• Knowledge of Apache Kafka and asynchronous messaging solutions
• Strong understanding of ISO 20022 payments standards
• Hands-on experience with the ICON IPF framework
• Experience working with major banking or financial services organisations
