Senior Java Engineer – Java, Kafka, full-time, with TD Securities , supports the Technology Solutions group. This role is mainly about crafting designing and keeping up high-performance financial apps, data platforms, and those distributed systems that capital markets really depend on.
You’ll be taking on scalable Java based applications, setting up data pipelines, hooking in streaming tools like Kafka , and working with business stakeholders so we can ship more inventive financial technology solutions.

This position is located in Toronto, Ontario. The focus is on Java work , distributed computing, data engineering , and financial tech solutions in general.
The role is about Java work, distributed computing, data engineering and also financial technology solutions which are kind of connected together.
You’ll be working with development teams, business stakeholders, and project people to build systems that are scalable and production-grade for the capital markets, not just prototypes.
Responsibilities
Create and also run data pipelines for mission critical financial systems.
Develop scalable data products together with business partners and teams.
You’ll need to integrate messaging plus streaming technologies like Kafka, and similar tools.
You will also support live production applications and, when things get messy, resolve those escalated technical issues.
You’ll join in discussions around application architecture, technical strategy , and do code reviews with the team.
There’s also CI/CD pipeline work, and Git-based development workflows , which means you’re not just coding in isolation.
Working closely with business stakeholders is part of it too, to deliver more creative financial technology solutions that actually help.
Requirements
You should have knowledge of Kafka or maybe some other messaging , and streaming platform that does the job.
Experience with relational SQL, and also NoSQL databases is expected at least some level you can probably rely on.
You should be familiar with Git, CI/CD pipelines and these modern build tools too .
Also, a strong grasp of object-oriented programming, plus concurrency, and memory management is basically a must.
If you’ve already designed scalable, production-grade applications, that’s important.
And beyond the tech part, you should bring strong communication skills, solid problem solving, and a decent ability to collaborate.
Finally, you need to be able to work on your own with a clear sense of ownership— like you take it personal a bit, but in a good way.
