Senior Kernel Development Engineer

Overview
In this role you will design and implement Linux network device drivers for AMD’s 800G+ and SmartNIC platforms, helping push high-performance networking capabilities. You’ll collaborate with architecture teams to optimize software and hardware interactions and contribute to upstream Linux kernel changes. You’ll mentor, bring up new ASIC/hardware, and explore efficient driver strategies, all within AMD’s culture of innovation and collaboration.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with architecture teams to influence future products
- Apply data-driven optimization to improve performance
- Stay current on software/hardware trends in algorithms and architecture
- Write and maintain high-performance Linux kernel drivers
- Design and develop new AMD technologies
- Submit driver changes to the upstream Linux kernel
- Participate in ASIC and hardware bring-ups
- Debug and optimize existing issues and explore alternative approaches
- Build technical relationships with peers and partners
- Proven commercial experience developing in C
- 5+ years of software experience, ideally in silicon or networking
- Direct experience with Linux kernel and virtualization development
- Proven experience writing Linux kernel device drivers
- Knowledge of Ethernet, TCP/IP, SDN and filesystems
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Motivating leadership with strong interpersonal skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering (or equivalent)
