Senior Kubernetes Platform Engineer

Architect Affirm’s EKS platform with Kubernetes expertise and Go or Python skills in a remote-first engineering environment. Shape reliable infrastructure at global scale.

As a Senior Staff Software Engineer, you will guide Kubernetes platform strategy across cluster lifecycle, node management, and shared components. You will automate operations through Terraform, Spacelift, and self-service workflows while supporting reliable workloads. The work spans AWS architecture, observability, policy enforcement, and technical leadership across teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architect and evolve Affirm’s EKS platform strategy
• Lead standardized provisioning, upgrades, teardown, and self-service workflows
• Own reliability for shared Kubernetes components and delivery pipelines
• Enforce workload safety standards and automated policy defaults
• Mentor engineers and participate in production incident response

Requirements:

• 10+ years in software or infrastructure engineering
• 6+ years operating production Kubernetes at scale
• Deep EKS, Kubernetes, AWS, and autoscaling expertise
• Terraform, GitOps, and policy enforcement experience
• Expert proficiency in Go or Python
