Overview

Senior Lead Java Engineer to lead the SwapClear Interfaces team in designing, building and maintaining Java-based systems critical to SwapClear operations. You will work in an Agile environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable solutions. The role combines hands-on development with leadership, ensuring quality, reliability and timely production support. This is a chance to shape core clearing interfaces within a global, growth-focused financial technology organization.

Responsibilities
  • Own analysis, design, development and delivery of scalable Java applications
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technology solutions with business needs
  • Lead by example with modern Java, Spring and best practices in software engineering
  • Estimate, track progress and liaise with business analysts, developers and CI teams
  • Contribute to test automation and design/execution of test cases
  • Support production systems and provide timely fixes including out-of-hours support
  • Document technical specifications and system design
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum rituals (planning, stand-ups, retrospectives)
Key requirements
  • Proven experience in Java-based system design, development, testing, and operational stability
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical and communication skills
  • Strong Java 17+ and frameworks like Spring Boot, Spring MVC
  • Deep understanding of RESTful services and microservices architectures
  • Relational databases, SQL and ORM tools
  • Message brokers
  • Front-end basics (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
  • Test Driven Development (TDD)/Behavior Driven Development
  • Cloud platforms and container technologies
  • Performance tuning and system optimization
  • Experience with CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
  • Adaptability to changing project requirements and technologies
