Overview

In this senior role, you will lead and implement low-latency trading systems and frameworks within Citi’s High Performance Architectures team. You’ll apply expertise across Rust, Java, and market data tooling to enable fast, reliable applications used by global markets. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to modernize and scale core trading platforms, while mentoring others and influencing senior stakeholders. This is a high-impact opportunity to shape the core latency-sensitive infrastructure at Citi.

Responsibilities
  • Hands-on development in Rust or Java to build low-latency microservices on an in-house event-sourcing framework
  • Lead integration of functions to deliver new products and improve processes
  • Analyze complex business and system processes to devise high-level technical solutions
  • Provide expert guidance in Java low-latency development and core system flows
  • Consult with end users to capture function specifications and translate into design
  • Influence and negotiate with senior leaders and external parties
  • Mentor junior developers and less experienced senior Java developers
  • Work on algorithmic trading system utilities, including market data replay and backtesting/simulation
Key requirements
  • Subject Matter Expert in Applications Development
  • Experience in algorithmic trading in a low-latency environment
  • Deep knowledge of market data handling and time-series databases (KDB)
  • Leadership, project management, and development skills
  • Strong command of Java, JVM, Linux, system calls, and kernel concepts
  • Understanding of TCP/IP and hardware-accelerated networking (Solarflare OpenOnload)
  • Performance tuning and architectural design skills
  • Clear communication and relationship-building abilities
  • UML diagramming capability and ability to document key aspects
