Senior Machine Learning Engineer (Recommendations/Search)

In this role you will design, deploy and operate production ML systems powering outfit discovery and personalised fashion experiences at ASOS. You will collaborate with ML scientists, engineers and product teams to bring deep learning, recommendation and generative AI ideas into production. You’ll scale models serving millions of customers, improve reliability and observability, and help shape the ML practice across the organisation. • Design, build and operate production ML systems powering outfit discovery and personalised fashion experiences
• Collaborate with ML Scientists to deploy deep learning models delivering customer and business value
• Deploy and optimise batch and real-time ML models serving millions of customers
• Contribute to recommendations, personalisation and AI-driven fashion discovery across ASOS
• Improve system performance, reliability, observability and scalability across the ML lifecycle
• Contribute to architectural decisions, engineering best practices and technical design
• Mentor and support other engineers through coaching and knowledge sharing
• Develop shared ML capabilities, tools and practices used across teams

• Experience designing, building and deploying ML systems in production
• Strong understanding of ML engineering principles and modern software engineering practices
• Hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow or similar
• Experience training and optimising models on large datasets with distributed compute
• Experience with recommendation systems, ranking, retrieval or related ML domains
• Knowledge of MLOps, including deployment, monitoring and lifecycle management
• Experience building reliable, observable, scalable cloud services
• Ability to provide technical leadership and mentoring
• Strong collaboration and cross-functional communication skills
• Curiosity about emerging AI technologies and practical use of LLMs and generative AI
