Senior Mainframe Software Engineer

Design and modernize IBM z/OS applications with COBOL, JCL, DB2, and CICS on Affinity Life’s technology team. This hands-on role supports mission-critical enterprise systems.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will build, maintain, and support enterprise-scale mainframe applications. Your work spans API integration, automation, DevOps practices, production troubleshooting, and modernization. You will also contribute technical leadership, architecture reviews, mentoring, and collaboration with engineering and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, unit test, and integrate mainframe application enhancements
• Build solutions using COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and IBM z/OS
• Troubleshoot production issues and perform root-cause analysis
• Improve application security, resiliency, performance, and availability
• Mentor engineers through guidance, reviews, and knowledge sharing

Requirements:

• Significant experience with enterprise-scale mainframe applications
• Strong COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and IBM z/OS knowledge
• Experience supporting high-volume, mission-critical production systems
• Experience with VSAM or related mainframe data technologies
• Understanding of Agile delivery, source control, and CI/CD
