Overview

In this Senior Manager role, you enable the Disney Cruise Line ship development program and readiness for new builds and dry docks, guiding marine and technical operations from design through commissioning. You collaborate with MTO, WDI, and shipyards to ensure safety, compliance, and operational readiness while driving efficiency and through-life performance. Responsibilities
  • Develop and coordinate MTO operational requirements for new ship projects (propulsion, power, automation, hull piping, and marine systems)
  • Ensure operational requirements are integrated into ship design and maintain quality standards through feedback and solutions
  • Review, compile, and submit operational comments on drawings and plan approvals; participate in inspections, tests, and trials
  • Document and control marine/technical equipment specs and owners supplies/spares; support ship setup and opening
  • Collaborate with WDI project teams, regulators, yard teams, and shipyard staff; conduct site visits and inspections during build
  • Support pre-launch activities: vessel commissioning, crew training, logistics, and installation of owner-supplied systems
  • Contribute to AMOS Maintenance & Procurement database and data upload for maintenance schedules using fleet-wide methods
  • Monitor shipbuilding and guest experience industry trends; attend conferences and supplier events
  • Identify opportunities for business process improvements in new build and dry dock initiatives
Key requirements
  • Degree in Naval Architecture or other engineering disciplines with a technical shipbuilding focus
  • Extensive senior leadership experience in cruise line operations with large projects/teams, ideally ship new builds
  • Strong understanding of ship operations and shipbuilding processes (design, specification, supplier selection, yard construction, commissioning)
  • Knowledge of technical/regulatory requirements for cruise ships and marine safety/quality standards
  • Proficiency in reviewing technical specs and drawings
  • Self-motivated with ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven teamwork and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate and influence others
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills to clearly articulate operational needs
  • Problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset; meticulous attention to detail
  • Flexibility for weekends/holidays and significant international travel; willingness to work on site in shipyards
