Overview

As Principal Software Engineer, you shape the technical direction for a portfolio of products within Technology & Solutions, delivering enterprise-grade software and embedding AI across the delivery lifecycle. You lead by example, manage engineering teams, and foster a culture of learning and excellence. You will drive secure-by-design development, robust observability, and scalable, production-ready solutions at scale. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with strategic impact across enterprise systems while advancing AI-native practices.

Responsibilities
  • Provide accountability and engineering direction for a portfolio of products and delivery teams
  • Lead hands-on technical contributions to solve critical challenges
  • Establish and enforce engineering standards, quality gates, and governance for AI-native software delivery
  • Promote engineering excellence across the full SDLC with secure-by-design development, observability, modern testing, resilient deployment, and operational excellence
  • Ensure enterprise-grade design: security, performance, resilience, scalability, and production readiness
  • Represent engineering in portfolio intake and triage discussions
  • Collaborate with solution architects to align with architectural patterns and standards
  • Champion and scale AI-native, specification-driven development across teams
  • Define standards for AI-assisted development, prompt engineering, AI code review, and human-in-the-loop workflows
  • Promote adoption of AI coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) as core development tools
  • Lead proof-of-concepts and evaluate emerging AI engineering tools and platforms
  • Demonstrate measurable improvements in delivery velocity, quality, or efficiency through AI use cases
  • Coach and develop engineering teams, fostering a culture of excellence and AI adoption
  • Foster cross-team collaboration and knowledge sharing
Key requirements
  • Software engineering experience with progression to senior technical roles
  • Extensive full-stack expertise: .NET Core, C#, and frontend (Angular or React, TypeScript, JavaScript)
  • Proven enterprise-scale cloud delivery on Microsoft Azure
  • 3+ years in Tech Lead roles with coaching experience
  • AI-native software delivery experience including AI-assisted tooling, automated QA, modern testing, and CI/CD in enterprise environments
  • Experience in microservices, distributed systems, RESTful APIs
  • Experience with Git, GitHub, and modern CI/CD with automated testing and deployments
  • Hands-on Agile (Scrum/Kanban) and DevOps practices
  • Strong database design across SQL Server, PostgreSQL and NoSQL (Azure CosmosDB)
  • Ability to balance technical execution with people management and product accountability
