Senior Migration Consultant

In this strategic data engineering engagement, you will architect and plan the migration of an extensive ETL estate from Matillion to AWS Glue for a Tier 1 financial services client. You’ll collaborate with client engineers to reverse‑engineer the current setup, design a target architecture, and craft a detailed blueprint to enable a multi‑phase migration. The role combines hands‑on engineering with architecture leadership, governance, and delivery planning in a highly collaborative environment. Your work directly shapes a multi‑million‑pound programme and the next delivery phase.

• Wave planning to schedule migration waves based on dependencies and priorities
• Complexity assessment of workloads prior to migration
• Workload analysis of batch processes, dependencies, schedules, and SLAs
• Orchestration migration strategy from Control-M to AWS Step Functions, including mapping and triggers
• Cutover runbook creation with steps, rollback points, and success criteria
• Pod coordination across multiple teams involved in the migration
• Release governance to ensure quality and standards before deployment

• Large-scale migration experience on enterprise projects
• Wave planning in multi-system migrations
• Deep knowledge of Control-M (jobs, schedules, dependencies, calendars)
• Hands-on experience with AWS Step Functions for workflow design
• Risk assessment in migration projects
