Senior Payments Platform Engineer

Build secure payment platforms with Go, distributed systems, and AI judgement at Xero’s Vancouver Payments Platform team. Own production delivery end-to-end.

As a Senior Engineer, you will shape reusable, provider-agnostic payment capabilities across orchestration, integrations, risk, reconciliation, and bill payments. You will design reliable services, make architectural trade-offs, and collaborate with product and engineering partners. Your work helps small businesses make payments that remain simple, accurate, secure, and connected to accounting records.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own payment platform capabilities from technical design through production
• Design secure distributed services with monitoring and operational readiness
• Improve systems incrementally while supporting long-term architecture
• Apply AI to product problems while protecting customer trust
• Mentor peers through reviews, pairing, and technical documentation

Requirements:

• Experience delivering highly available distributed systems
• Proficiency in Go, Java, Kotlin, Python, Ruby, or C++
• Cloud-native experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP
• End-to-end ownership from design through production validation
• Interest in learning C# and .NET
