Overview
As a Senior Backend Engineer on the Unity Studio team, you own the cloud services behind real-time collaboration, publishing pipelines, and editor APIs. You will shape scalable, production‑grade backend systems and mentor teammates in a fast‑moving, cross‑functional environment. Your work enables real-time, multi‑user experiences on the web and game‑related tooling. You contribute to technical direction and deliver reliable features that impact how creators build and publish content.

- Design, build, and operate backend services for real-time collaborative editing, game publishing, and content delivery
- Own end-to-end service lifecycle from design through deployment and production run‑book
- Scale platforms for stateful real-time workloads, session routing, and cloud-native service fleets
- Define APIs and service contracts consumed by the editor and partner teams
- Improve delivery practices with infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and automated deployment
- Collaborate with product and design to turn ambiguous problems into reliable features
- Champion reliability and observability and drive incident learning
- Mentor engineers and raise code quality through reviews and design feedback
- Substantial professional experience designing, building, and operating backend services in production
- Proficiency in one or more modern backend languages and ability to work across several
- Solid grounding in distributed systems, including API design, data persistence, and state management
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms and containerized deployments
- Track record of owning services in production, including monitoring and incident response
- Pragmatism and comfort with ambiguity, ability to ship iteratively under deadlines
