Senior Platform Engineer

Senior Platform Engineer at IG owns and modernises the edge delivery estate with a automation-first approach. You will move Akamai configuration from manual controls to code, enabling self-service across teams and safe deployments. You’ll work on cloud-native infrastructure, CI/CD integration, and cross-region edge delivery that underpins IG’s trading operations. • Automate the Akamai estate and enable self-service through reusable Terraform modules and documented rule trees.
• Migrate Akamai configuration from Control Center to a Terraform-first workflow with policy checks and staging tests.
• Build self-service paths for routine edge changes (hostnames, redirects, caching rules) with automated validations.
• Integrate edge config with GitLab CI/CD and ServiceNow change control for consistent promotion across environments.
• Develop tooling (Python/Bash) to automate against APIs, reducing repetitive work and enabling inventory reporting.
• Own design, configuration, and operations of IG's Akamai estate across staging and production networks.
• Design and maintain redirection and rewriting rules (301/302, host/path-based) across domains.
• Configure routing, origin behavior, failover, and multi-origin, multi-region delivery.
• Set caching, delivery strategies (HTTP/2/3, image/video delivery), and purge workflows.
• Support multi-CDN and disaster recovery planning for edge delivery.
• Triage incidents using Edge Diagnostics, tracing from DNS to origin, and drive root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with Platform Managers and application teams to translate hosting requirements into secure, performant configurations.

• 5+ years in CDN/edge delivery engineering with deep Akamai expertise
• Proven hands-on with Akamai Property Manager (Control Center, PAPI) and lifecycle across staging/production
• Infrastructure-as-code experience using Akamai Terraform Provider; GitLab CI/CD; scripting (Python or Bash)
• Routing, DNS, traffic management knowledge including Edge DNS and Global Traffic Management
• Experience with redirects/rewrites (host- and path-based) and Cloudlet policies
• Edge security knowledge (Site Shield, WAF, bot mitigation) and certificate lifecycle management (Venafi)
• Troubleshooting and observability skills (Edge Diagnostics, mPulse, debugging headers)
• Experience with ITSM/change-control workflows (ServiceNow) in regulated/high-availability environments
