Senior Platform Engineer - Azure

In this Senior Platform Engineer role at Kainos, you will help design and operate a modern digital service platform, focusing on automation, build, deployment and support. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software and enable scalable, secure services in production. You’ll champion an inclusive DevOps culture and mentor junior colleagues while exploring new technologies. This is a fast-paced, impact-driven role with opportunities to shape platform decisions and drive continuous improvement.

• Collaborate with engineering, testing, consulting, product management and security teams to build, test and deploy high-quality software
• Leverage latest technologies to maximize user and business value while adhering to standards and best practices
• Foster an inclusive DevOps culture and support teammates
• Advocate for scalable, secure, reliable, and performant services through active involvement in decisions
• Support services in Live Operation, ensuring availability, security and performance in production
• Coach and mentor junior team members and act as a role model
• Explore new technologies and potential specialisms to guide career direction

• Strong teamwork skills in a multi-disciplinary setting
• Excellent verbal and written communication across technical and non-technical audiences
• Extensive experience with configuration management, infrastructure provisioning and automation tools
• Fluency in at least one of: PowerShell, Bash, Python, Ruby, Go, Groovy
• Experience designing, building, testing, automating, monitoring and supporting components in production digital service platforms
• Ability to produce scalable, secure, cost-efficient designs with minimal lock-in
• Participation in architectural discussions, MVP advocacy, and product planning
• Experience implementing modern Continuous Delivery for production releases
• Knowledge of security, elasticity, performance patterns in infrastructure and applications
• Experience with AWS cloud platforms and container orchestration tooling
• Proficiency with modern version control systems (Git)
• Ability to debug complex multi-server environments
