Senior PostgreSQL Data Engineer

Requirements

• Active SC Clearance
• Strong PostgreSQL engineering experience within enterprise environments
• Extensive PL/pgSQL development experience
• Experience developing stored procedures, functions, triggers and database objects
• Advanced SQL skills including CTEs, window functions and query optimisation
• Database performance tuning, indexing and partitioning experience
• Experience implementing data transformations within PostgreSQL
• Production database support and troubleshooting experience
• Linux environment experience
• Python, Bash or Shell scripting skills
• Experience working within Agile delivery teams

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimise and support PostgreSQL database solutions within a large-scale production environment
• Design and build PL/pgSQL stored procedures, functions, triggers and views
• Implement data transformation and validation logic within PostgreSQL
• Write and optimise complex SQL queries for large datasetst>
• Troubleshoot performance issues and perform query optimisation
• Review schemas and recommend improvements to indexing, partitioning and data models
• Support database migrations and integration activities
• Work closely with application, infrastructure and engineering teams
• Develop automated testing approaches for database functionality
• Ensure database reliability, scalability, integrity and security

Highly Desirable

• HMCTS, HMRC, Home Office or wider Government experience
• Current SC Clearance gained on a Government programme
• Data Engineering background
• ETL / ELT pipeline development experience
• AWS, Azure or Databricks experience
• Database migration experience from Oracle or SQL Server to PostgreSQL
• Data modelling and data warehouse experience
