Senior Principal Developer

In this role you will join an interdisciplinary team to create tools and workflows that support clinical trial analyses and reporting. You will build and maintain production-grade R packages and deploy Shiny dashboards to enable data exploration and decision-making. You will collaborate with statisticians, programmers, and clinical teams to translate requirements into reliable, scalable solutions, while applying AI responsibly to development workflows. The role emphasizes modernization, open-source engagement, and a strong focus on user experience to improve clinical reporting processes. • Develop and maintain production-grade R packages for data engineering, analyses, automation, and reporting workflows
• Design, build, and deploy Shiny applications for interactive dashboards and data exploration
• Collaborate with statistical programmers, statisticians, and clinical reporting teams to translate requirements into reproducible code
• Apply AI responsibly to support product design and development workflows
• Drive tooling rollout through demos, pilots, training, and support
• Engage with user experience to identify opportunities for modernization
• Model best practices for data science and software development
• Document tools and processes to support modernization in an inclusive manner
• Engage in open-source communities in external settings

• MSc in quantitative / computational science or equivalent
• Experience as an R developer
• Deep knowledge of data manipulation (tidyverse) and data visualization (ggplot2, plotly)
• Proven ability to develop production-grade R packages with documentation and testing
• Hands-on experience deploying R applications in production
• High proficiency in Shiny app development and deployment
• Experience with software development best practices (virtual environments, git, CI/CD, code reviews)
• Hands-on experience applying AI to improve developer productivity of data-driven apps
