Overview

As Senior Product Designer for the Android app, you shape end-to-end native experiences that power discovery and shopping for millions of customers. You’ll work within ASOS’s digital-transformation context to craft immersive, personalised outfit-based experiences that feel effortless and fast. You will collaborate across product, engineering, and design to ship, measure, and iterate high-impact features, informed by data and user research. This role combines craft, speed, and AI-driven innovation to elevate the customer experience on Android.

Responsibilities
  • Own end-to-end design of native Android experiences from discovery through to shipped, measured, and iterated product
  • Apply deep Android platform craft: Material 3, theming, gestures, edge-to-edge layouts, dark theme, notifications, widgets, Play Store surfaces
  • Design for multiple densities/screen sizes and ensure performance on mid- to lower-tier devices across markets
  • Champion reusable patterns and components, balance design system use with forward evolution, align with iOS for cross-platform coherence
  • Collaborate with Android engineers to translate design into Jetpack Compose-friendly structures and tokens
  • Prototype early and often (Figma, code, AI tools), including on-device to test motion/gesture
  • Work with cross-functional teams to drive end-to-end delivery and accountability for performance
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative research to validate design choices and keep decisions customer-led
  • Use AI tools in design practice and help the team build AI fluency
  • Champion accessibility standards (TalkBack, focus, touch targets, font scaling)
  • Understand tech/data/business logic underpinning experiences and design within those constraints
  • Communicate design decisions, trade-offs, and findings clearly to influence stakeholders
  • Stay informed on AI capabilities, Android updates, and Material changes and apply them to work
Key requirements
  • Significant experience designing and shipping native Android products with a strong portfolio
  • Proficiency with Material 3 and brand expression in Android contexts
  • Experience designing for fragmentation: adaptive layouts, large screens, varied performance, accessibility settings
  • Fluent collaboration with Android engineers; knowledge of Kotlin and Compose and trade-offs in build cost
  • Systems thinking and ability to design scalable patterns across flows
  • Prototype-driven approach; prefer working on device over static decks
  • AI-native working style and interest in AI-driven experiences
  • Strong track record in user research and experimentation, turning insights into decisions
  • Expertise in Figma and modern prototyping; ability to evolve design systems across platforms
  • Clear, confident communicator; ability to influence senior stakeholders
