As a Senior Project Engineer, you will lead electrical retrofit and upgrade projects in live data centre environments across the UK and EMEA, ensuring safe, minimal-disruption upgrades. You’ll work within a specialist retrofit team, collaborating with clients and vendors to deliver high-complexity projects. The role combines design, planning and execution with a focus on resilience and live-system integration. This opportunity offers direction, technical leadership and hands-on delivery in mission-critical settings.

Responsibilities
  • Lead design, planning and delivery of electrical retrofit projects in operational data centres
  • Develop strategies for live system tie-ins, outage planning and resilience
  • Conduct or manage technical assessments to unlock additional capacity
  • Produce and review technical documentation, schematics and reports
  • Manage budgets, timelines and mitigate live-environment risks
  • Liaise with clients, contractors and vendors for seamless execution
  • Enforce QA processes and compliance
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across the retrofit team
Key requirements
  • Demonstrable experience delivering electrical works in live data centre or mission-critical environments
  • Strong understanding of LV/MV distribution, UPS systems and standby generator integration
  • Skilled with AutoCAD and Revit; experience using Amtech, ETAP or similar tools is preferred
  • Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or comparable discipline
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in building services engineering, including high-complexity retrofit projects
  • In-depth knowledge of IEC, BS and related standards
  • Stakeholder liaison and client-facing communication
