Overview

In this role you design and evolve QA automation for Roku’s audio experiences, expanding from AV-sync to broader audio quality coverage across TVs, soundbars, and headphones. You’ll partner with engineering leadership to architect an AI-enhanced automation ecosystem, aiming to predict failures and improve regression prevention. You will implement measurement methodologies that go beyond pass/fail, driving production reliability. This is a hands-on, transformation-driven role where your AI and embedded systems expertise will shape how Roku tests and delivers audio quality at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement test analysis systems to identify quality gaps and predict failure patterns
  • Build data-driven mechanisms to collect, analyze, and act on testing information for continuous quality improvements
  • Leverage AI-powered tools to enable test automation, failure analysis, and root cause identification
  • Develop new methodologies to measure and raise test quality beyond pass/fail, focusing on regression prevention and production reliability
  • Define architectural patterns that improve testing effectiveness and alignment with business impact
  • Drive systematic regression tracking and prevent recurrence of issues
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align quality initiatives with broader engineering goals
  • Mentor engineers on test architecture, automation design, and AI-assisted quality assurance
Key requirements
  • Expertise in test architecture and automation systems design
  • Python programming proficiency with multi-language experience
  • Experience automating embedded systems in the loop
  • Proven track record in test transformation reducing production issues
  • Ability to design and optimize AI-driven quality assurance solutions
  • Knowledge of CI tools (Jenkins, GitLab, TeamCity, AWS) and quality gate optimization
  • Experience with test flakiness analysis, failure pattern recognition, and automated root cause identification
  • Strong communication skills and ability to influence senior leadership
  • Experience mentoring engineers and leading testing practice changes
  • Project QA or development lead experience
  • Certifications or training in AI/ML or AI-driven testing approaches
