Senior R Programmer/Shiny Developer at Premier Research drives the design, development, and refinement of interactive R Shiny applications for clinical trial activities. You will deliver scalable, performant tools for data exploration, QC, and reporting, while aligning with GxP and CSA standards. You’ll build reusable modules to promote consistency, optimize usability, and integrate with cloud data sources. Responsibilities- Design, develop, test, and maintain interactive R Shiny apps for clinical trial analysis with scalability for large datasets
- Create user-friendly applications for statistical review, data exploration, quality control, and reporting
- Develop reusable Shiny modules and frameworks to promote consistency and efficiency
- Optimize app performance, scalability, and usability across frontend, backend, and infrastructure
- Develop reusable programming utilities using R, SAS, and Python
- Build apps supporting SDTM/ADaM review, dataset comparison, metadata review, TLF QC, and clinical data visualization
- Ensure applications comply with GxP, CSA, and company standards
- Develop and execute unit, integration, and regression testing for applications
- Provide technical consultation on R, Shiny, and open-source technologies
- Create programs to support project deliverables (e.g., ADaM, TLFs) and support study teams with programming activities
- 5+ years of programming experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or CRO industry
- 3+ years hands-on experience with R, R packages, RStudio, and RShiny in clinical data analysis
- Experience integrating RShiny apps with cloud data sources (AWS S3, Azure Data Lake)
- Ability to scale Shiny applications to hundreds of users and optimize performance
- Experience validating RShiny apps to meet FDA, EMA, and GxP guidelines
- Proven track record building tools/pipelines to improve efficiency or standardization
- Active participation in open-source community related to R packages and Shiny
- Expertise in optimizing Shiny performance across frontend, backend, and infrastructure
- Ability to analyze user behavior to improve usability and functionality
- Strong communication skills to translate technical strategy for diverse stakeholders
