Senior R&D, Testing & Validation Engineer

Design and execute mechanical and impact testing plans and campaigns
Perform finite element simulations and correlate results with physical testing
Develop and validate material models
Contribute to the design and architecture of impact protection structures
Translate product requirements into verifiable technical specifications
Analyze results and provide design conclusions and recommendations
Take technical ownership of assigned R&D programs, from design through validation
Present results and recommendations during development reviews
Develop testing, analysis, and data-processing tools
Provide technical guidance to interns and junior team members
Hands-on experience with mechanical or impact testing: setup, instrumentation, data acquisition, and analysis
Strong proficiency in explicit dynamic finite element analysis (FEA): LS-DYNA, Abaqus, Ansys, or equivalent
Experience with simulation-to-test correlation
Strong understanding of cellular materials, foams, and TPEs, including hyperelasticity, viscoelasticity, and strain-rate dependency
Strong scientific foundation and familiarity with testing and certification processes
Ability to interpret, conclude, document, and clearly communicate technical results
Full autonomy across the testing and validation cycle
6+ years of experience in an R&D engineering role
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
OIQ member or eligible for membership
Strong technical autonomy and ability to defend conclusions in front of senior leadership
Results-driven and action-oriented, with the ability to quickly understand technical challenges and move forward
Knowledge of impact biomechanics, HIC, and injury criteria
Familiarity with CSA, ASTM, EN, and NOCSAE standards
Experience with FDM additive manufacturing
Knowledge of lattice structures, architected materials, and energy absorption
Python skills for data processing and automation
