Overview

As Senior Developer, you will drive the design and delivery of innovative web platforms within a digital transformation program. You will combine hands-on development with technical leadership to shape user-centric experiences and improve visibility for a science-focused organisation. You’ll work on modern web tech to build scalable, API-driven solutions and lead efforts from design through operation. This role offers a chance to influence public communications and stakeholder engagement through high-quality web products. Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and delivery of web application projects with a hands-on and technical leadership approach
  • Define and implement user-centered design, build, test, and optimization activities
  • Shape architecture for API-driven, headless CMS-based systems
  • Collaborate with external technical stakeholders to align on requirements and delivery
  • Ensure robust CI/CD pipelines and automated testing practices
  • Support deployment, operation, and ongoing improvement of web platforms
  • Contribute to design decisions and technology choices to advance the organisation’s mission
  • Balance speed and quality to maximise visibility and stakeholder engagement through web products
Key requirements
  • Senior or lead level full stack development experience
  • Strong frontend focus with React and ideally Next.js
  • Python or Django experience
  • Exposure to Headless CMS and API-driven architectures
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working with external stakeholders
  • Hybrid/office-based work availability (minimum 2 days in office)
  • Full, unrestricted UK work rights
  • Contract length of 24 months (FTC) with potential extension
