Senior Ruby Engineer - Hotwire - Reading - 1 day a week - Progression - Stable and profitable business

I am currently supporting a client with 2 new hires! 1 Senior and 1 Tech Lead Ruby position.

You’ll play a key role in evolving a core product, working across backend services, APIs, and selective frontend components, while helping the team move faster through the use of AI tools.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Building and scaling a Ruby on Rails monolith as it transitions to AWS
• Developing backend services and APIs with a focus on performance and reliability
• Contributing to ongoing platform improvements, upgrades, and new feature development
• Working with tools such as Elasticsearch and modern cloud infrastructure
• Using LLM-assisted coding tools to accelerate delivery and improve workflows
• Collaborating with a senior, highly capable engineering team

Tech Environment

• Ruby on Rails (core)
• AWS (migration from Heroku)
• Elasticsearch
• Hotwire / light React on the frontend

What We’re Looking For

• Strong experience with Ruby on Rails in production environments
• Solid understanding of API design and backend architecture
• Experience working across the stack (frontend exposure beneficial)
• Interest or experience in LLM-assisted development
