Responsibilities

• Define and shape how we deliver front-end Attribute Reputation services (APIs) to digital services to provide attribute insights for fraud detection and prevention across the business
• Help design a future vision for our AttRep services, including consolidation, to provide a consistent and easy-to-use experience for users
• Consider how we deliver high-volume, high-availability and low-latency services
• Improve our existing services
• Reduce our maintenance efforts through incremental re-architecting, including reducing the number of technologies required to support the pipeline and using managed services where appropriate
• Design and develop clean, functioning, testable back-end code
• Write effective APIs
• Develop and manage well-functioning databases and applications with security and data protection settings
• Collaborate with the AttRep product owner, business analyst, data engineers and the wider CIP teams to ideate software solutions

We are working to detect and prevent fraudulent access to taxpayer data and organised repayment fraud. Our Attribute Reputation process collates large amounts of tax transaction data to derive risk scores and insights, helping identify common attributes associated with suspicious or fraudulent activity. We collaborate with other data product and front-end product teams to create a frictionless customer experience and to exploit the digital audit data we hold. Insights from Attribute Reputation are crucial to our services, and our team is pioneering data sharing with other government departments and local authorities. This Senior Scala Engineer role is based in Stratford, London with hybrid remote working, on a six-month contract paying up to £637 per day via umbrella only.
