Salary: £68,000 - 108,000 per year
Requirements:
- We are looking for a degree in Computer Science or a related field, though this is preferred rather than essential.
- We require 10+ years of experience, including 3+ years in a senior architecture role.
- We need expertise in .NET, C#, and SQL Server; React.js and Python are desirable.
- We need deep domain knowledge of financial markets technology, such as FCM, clearing brokers, investment banks, exchanges, or vendors.
- We require proven experience designing systems for listed derivatives, securities, and/or FX processing.
- We need strong understanding of order processing, execution, risk management, margining, collateral, valuation, and give-up processing.
- We require strong knowledge of FIX protocol and CCP/vendor connectivity, such as ICE Clearing, Eurex, LME, or CME.
- We need extensive experience with event-driven architectures, Kafka and/or IBM MQ, and real-time data pipelines.
- We require knowledge of regulatory frameworks including EMIR, MiFID II, CASS, MAR, DORA, and CFTC.
- We need microservices, containerisation, and cloud architecture expertise, preferably Azure, for regulated workloads.
- We require excellent communication skills and the ability to present to both C-suite and technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- We oversee architecture across trading, clearing, and post-trade systems, including integrations with CCPs, exchanges, data/platform vendors, and customers.
- We direct the modernisation of integration patterns and frameworks, reinforcing strong security principles and practices.
- We steer our data architecture strategy, including data quality, ownership, security, and accessibility.
- We chair architecture governance forums and drive timely, effective architectural decisions.
- We produce architecture documentation, architectural decision records, target-state blueprints, and audit-ready artefacts.
- We design resilient systems that meet RTO/RPO requirements and FCA operational resilience obligations.
- We ensure regulatory obligations are met by design, including FCA/ESMA EMIR, MiFID II, DORA, and other relevant global obligations.
- We contribute to change management and incident management frameworks.
- We mentor and upskill engineering teams on architecture principles, cloud-native patterns, and best practice.
- We drive adoption of DevSecOps and infrastructure-as-code, and support governance of AI usage to ensure secure, explainable, and compliant solutions.
