In this role, you will shape the backend powering Wise’s recipient management experience. You’ll work within the Contacts team to build scalable, reliable services that support discovery and interactions with counterparties. You will collaborate with product and design to deliver a world-class recipient experience and contribute to a robust, data-driven backend. - Define and drive the technical vision for the backend powering the recipient UX
- Scale and build the recipient management product for reliability and performance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design, PM, analytics) in an agile setup
- Develop clean RESTful APIs and maintainable services with testable code
- Contribute to platform reliability, monitoring, and deployment automation
- Integrate local services and ecommerce/payment features (like Pix) to improve discovery and onboarding
- Java 5+ years
- experience with large-scale distributed systems
- experience with relational and non-relational databases; query optimisation and schema design
