Responsibilities
This role spans the full arc of algorithm development — from early-stage research and prototyping through to scalable, production-ready deployment. You'll work across disciplines, collaborating with hardware engineers and research scientists to build systems that operate reliably in resource-constrained, low-power environments . Technical leadership and quality assurance are just as central to this role as the coding itself.
- Research and prototype new algorithmic and machine learning approaches to improve eye tracking accuracy and maximize population coverage using real-world data insights
- Develop scalable, computationally efficient algorithms optimized for resource-constrained, low-power operating modes
- Navigate open-ended technical challenges by efficiently evaluating alternative solutions and driving execution while collaborating closely with hardware and research teams
- Contribute to data reprocessing pipelines, visualization tools, and automated test frameworks to support testing and quality
- Provide technical leadership to define software standards and develop comprehensive technical documentation
- Support cross-functional teams with hardware integration and investigation
Requirements / Skills
Google is looking for a developer who brings deep expertise in C++ and Python , a strong background in algorithm research, and the versatility to move between low-level optimization and high-level technical leadership. - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- 5 years of experience developing software in C++ and Python, and optimizing code for resource-constrained, low-power, or performance-critical edge devices
- Algorithm research and development experience, including translating prototypes into scalable, production-ready software
- Linear algebra, signal processing, or machine learning techniques applied to complex algorithmic problems (preferred)
- Eye-tracking systems, geometric algorithms, or sensor calibration experience (preferred)
- Data analysis tools, visualization dashboards, and data reprocessing pipelines to support algorithm evaluation (preferred)
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience; 5 years of experience developing software in C++ and Python and optimizing code for resource-constrained, low-power, or performance-critical edge devices; experience in algorithm research, development, and translating prototypes into scalable, production-ready software.
