Senior Software Developer II - Receive Risk

In this role you will build and optimize a fraud engine to enable rapid, secure onboarding of new payment products. You will collaborate with product, data science, and fraud teams to balance user experience with risk control at scale. The position centers on delivering high-performance, scalable backend services that support Wise’s Acquiring products while reducing exposure to fraud. You will shape how we detect, prevent, and respond to financial crime as part of a cross-functional squad.

• Design and implement a fraud engine to ship new products and features quickly while managing risk and cost
• Collaborate with Product, Data Science, Fraud Prevention Analysts and Fraud agents to balance speed, usability and security
• Develop distributed, high-performance backend services with a focus on scalability and reliability
• Maintain end-to-end ownership of features across the development lifecycle
• Work with microservices architecture and messaging systems to handle large-scale traffic

• Hands-on experience with distributed systems and microservices
• Proven ability to deliver high-performance, low-latency backend systems

• Proficiency in Java (preferred) or equivalent backend language
