Overview

In this role you will design, develop, and maintain scalable Python-based services used by large public sector transformation programs. You’ll work in Agile teams to build secure REST APIs and cloud-native applications on AWS, contributing to engineering standards and technical leadership. You will collaborate with DevOps to automate deployments and ensure reliability, performance, and security across production systems. This position offers hands-on coding, mentoring of developers, and influence on solution delivery and documentation. Responsibilities
  • Design, develop and maintain scalable Python-based applications and services
  • Build secure RESTful APIs and integration solutions for enterprise platforms
  • Develop cloud-native applications using AWS and modern engineering practices
  • Collaborate with DevOps to deliver automated, reliable deployments
  • Maintain high software quality through testing, reviews and best practices
  • Design and implement microservices and event-driven architectures
  • Support production systems with improved performance, resilience and reliability
  • Mentor developers and provide technical leadership across teams
  • Contribute to Agile planning, technical design and solution delivery
  • Produce high-quality technical documentation and support continuous improvement initiatives
Key requirements
  • Strong commercial experience with Python
  • Hands-on experience building and consuming REST APIs
  • Experience using REST Assured for API testing and automation
  • Commercial experience with AWS
  • Strong understanding of DevOps practices and modern software delivery
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience developing scalable, secure enterprise applications
  • Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, testing and code quality
  • Experience mentoring developers and supporting technical delivery
