As a Senior SDE III on the Data Center Builder Tools team, you will shape the real-time middleware and runtime that connects industrial hardware with the cloud across AWS data centers. You’ll own end-to-end architecture, including the data-exchange layer, type systems, and cross-language interfaces, tackling hard real-time and embedded challenges. You’ll drive multi-quarter strategy for protocol support and cloud integration, ensuring determinism, latency budgets, and scalable reliability. - Architect the end-to-end runtime and real-time middleware across edge controllers and the cloud
- Define multi-quarter technical strategy for industrial protocol support and cloud integration
- Ensure real-time correctness with latency, throughput, determinism, and failure-mode guarantees
- Lead cross-team and cross-discipline efforts to align interfaces and contracts
- Raise engineering standards for testing, benchmarking, and code quality
- Mentor Junior and Mid-level SDEs and participate in hiring
- Tackle high-ambiguity, high-impact technical challenges (new protocols, performance paths)
- Contribute to de-risking hard problems and delivering maintainable end states
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or engineering team lead
- Proficiency in at least one modern language (Java, C++, or C#)
- Experience in professional software development (non-internship)
- Experience owning architecture and design for scalable systems
- Knowledge of SDLC best practices, code reviews, CI/CD, testing, and operations
- Strong understanding of real-time or embedded systems, distributed systems, middleware/messaging (pub/sub, RPC) and cloud communication
- Experience with industrial automation platforms, hardware protocols, or real-time middleware (OPC-UA, DDS/Zenoh, IEC 61131-3) is a strong advantage
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent (preferred)
