Overview

In this role you will design and build backend Java services that power high-performance trading and market connectivity. You will work within a cross-functional team to deliver microservices and cloud-based solutions, focusing on low-latency, robust architecture. You will apply TDD practices and CI/CD to maintain quality while collaborating with stakeholders across the firm. This position offers the opportunity to shape critical backend systems in the financial services domain and contribute to scalable, resilient software life cycles.

Responsibilities
  • Develop Java-based backend applications with Spring Boot and microservices architecture
  • Implement low-latency components using Java NIO (Channels, Buffers, Selectors)
  • Integrate with market connectivity using FIX protocol
  • Work with messaging systems (JMS, MQ, EMS, Kafka) for inter-service communication
  • Design and optimize with relational databases (Oracle, Sybase, MS SQL)
  • Deploy and operate microservices in cloud environments with containerization
  • Apply test-driven development and adhere to development standards
  • Create and maintain Unix/Linux shell scripts; participate in CI/CD and Agile processes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and support SDLC activities
  • Utilize MS Office tools for documentation and reporting
Key requirements
  • Proven experience with Java, Microservices, and Spring Boot
  • Expertise with Java NIO components (Channels, Buffers, Selectors)
  • Strong knowledge of FIX protocol and low-latency development
  • Experience with JMS, MQ, EMS, or Kafka
  • Strong RDBMS concepts with Oracle, Sybase, or MS SQL
  • Cloud experience with microservices and containerization
  • Test-driven development methodology and standard development practices
  • Unix/Linux scripting experience
  • CI/CD, Agile development, and full software lifecycle
  • Basic MS Office skills
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent experience
  • Financial services domain experience
