Senior Software Engineer

Salary: £47,000 - 87,000 per year

Requirements:

• We require an academic degree in a related field, or 5+ years of employment in a Software Engineering role, with increasing responsibility in delivery and technical decision-making.
• We require strong, hands‑on experience in C# and .NET, including the ability to design, develop, and review high-quality code and write effective unit tests.
• We require a strong background in SQL, with proven experience in designing, optimising, and maintaining databases in production environments.
• We require solid experience with CI/CD pipelines and a strong understanding of source control systems and branching strategies, with the ability to influence and improve team practices.
• Experience with Azure technologies such as Azure Functions, Azure SQL, Azure Storage, Azure API Management (APIM), and Azure Service Bus is required, especially for event-driven or messaging‑based architectures.
• Familiarity with modern front‑end technologies such as Blazor, Angular, or React is beneficial, with the ability to contribute to or guide responsive user interfaces.

Responsibilities:

• We work collaboratively with our squad and stakeholders, taking a technical leading role in shaping and delivering business outcomes.
• We write and review clean, maintainable code, and guide others on best practices such as SOLID principles, design patterns, unit testing, peer reviews, and CI/CD processes.
• We ensure documentation is accurate and up to date, and mentor team members on maintaining high-quality story documentation and technical clarity.
• We actively support and mentor team members by sharing knowledge, providing guidance, and fostering a culture of continuous learning.
• We guide and contribute to solution design, working closely with stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable and maintainable implementations.
• We collaborate with engineers across teams to influence and evolve our architecture, promoting best practices and alignment.
• We champion security and engineering standards, ensuring our work and that of the team adheres to organisational guidelines.
• We adopt new ways of working, including AI-assisted development tools, and help the team navigate the evolving engineering landscape, including the move towards an agentic SDLC.
• We foster effective collaboration with distributed teams across the United Kingdom, Portugal, Poland, and India, promoting alignment and consistency in delivery.
