Responsibilities
  • Develop and support software applications used in operational environments
  • Design new features from user and business requirements
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure monitoring and data collection capabilities
  • Analyse performance, troubleshoot issues, and support fault diagnosis
  • Participate in design reviews, testing, and documentation
  • Coordinate with product teams and suppliers to deliver solutions
  • Support ongoing maintenance and improvement of operational systems
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, tooling, and software reliability
  • Contribute to the full software development lifecycle from requirements to deployment and support
  • Provide technical support for live systems, including on-call responsibilities
Key requirements
  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • Hands-on Java development in real-time operational environments
  • Experience with JavaScript and Node.js
  • Experience with Windows and Linux
  • Knowledge of IP networking and troubleshooting tools (e.g., Wireshark)
  • Experience with event streaming technologies (Kafka)
  • Strong understanding of the full SDLC
  • Producing high-quality, maintainable, reusable software in a collaborative environment
  • Knowledge of OO analysis, design principles, and design patterns
  • Good communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
  • Awareness of software and network security best practices
  • Ability to produce technical documentation for development and ops teams
