In this Senior Software Engineer role, you will translate ambiguous business problems into robust, production-grade solutions within Civica’s public-sector software portfolio. You’ll work across legacy systems and greenfield projects, delivering end-to-end software that supports real users and meaningful outcomes. You’ll shape architectures, uphold quality and operability, and collaborate with product and design to align technology with public service priorities. This is a chance to influence critical public-sector systems at scale with modern tooling and thoughtful engineering practice.

- Decompose ambiguous problems into clear system designs and architectural trade-offs
- Design, build, and ship production-ready software across the full lifecycle from specification to deployment and operability
- Work across legacy modernization and greenfield development within the same product
- Own technical decisions for complex components and explain trade-offs to product managers and principal engineers
- Define quality standards for code, testing, observability, and documentation in your codebase
- Collaborate with product, design, and other engineers to understand real problems before building solutions
- Track record of building and shipping complex, real-world software systems with end-to-end ownership
- System design and architectural reasoning for component interactions and failure modes
- Problem decomposition under ambiguity; translating vague business needs into technical approaches
- Production-quality discipline: testing, observability, error handling, and operational readiness
- Effective communication to explain technical Trade-offs and build consensus with non-engineers
- Learning agility across stacks and domains; adaptable to unfamiliar territory
- Ownership and initiative to identify and resolve production issues proactively
