Overview

In this Senior Backend Engineer role, you will design and deliver scalable backend solutions that underpin Gymshark’s global growth. You’ll work within a cross-functional Tech team to build customer-facing and internal services using Golang and AWS serverless tech. You will drive high-quality delivery, maintain observability, and mentor peers while navigating peak sale periods. This role offers the chance to shape scalable architectures in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment focused on growth and impact.

Responsibilities
  • Lead technical implementations to ensure timely, high-quality delivery
  • Design, build, and maintain APIs, services, and integrations using Golang
  • Implement event-driven solutions to support critical business processes
  • Create, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines
  • Build scalable software leveraging AWS Serverless services (Lambda, EventBridge, SQS, DynamoDB)
  • Write testable, maintainable code following engineering standards
  • Operate in an Agile environment, maintain observability, and respond to incidents
  • Mentor and coach other engineers and elevate engineering standards
Key requirements
  • Production Golang experience or in a strictly typed language
  • Experience with cloud-based serverless services (AWS Lambda, Google Cloud Run, or Azure Functions)
  • Proven ability to design and maintain CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with relational and non-relational databases
  • Experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable APIs
  • Understanding of Event Driven Architecture
  • Git usage and branching strategy knowledge
  • Experience applying quality and testing practices (unit testing, contract testing)
  • Commercial awareness and creative problem-solving with cost/value mindset
