Senior Software Engineer

As a Senior Software Engineer in the Digital Excellence Centre UK, you help design, build, and support secure, maintainable software products for global projects. You will influence technical direction and engineering standards within a small, senior team across discovery to production support. You collaborate with colleagues in the UK, India, and France to deliver integrated solutions. You will work on secure APIs, data services, and cross‑functional integrations that drive performance and decision-making. This role offers meaningful impact in a regulated, safety‑critical environment and a clear path to shaping enterprise software practice.

• Understand requirements with senior stakeholders
• Design, build, test, deploy and support software applications, services and reusable components
• Produce pragmatic designs balancing quality, security and maintainability
• Work across backend services, integrations and user-facing apps
• Contribute to engineering standards through code review, testing, CI/CD and documentation
• Design secure APIs and integrations across digital products, enterprise systems and data services
• Collaborate with data engineers on APIs, events and data contracts

• Experience delivering production software end to end
• Frontend and backend development experience
• APIs design and integration with enterprise systems
• Strong understanding of software design principles and modern engineering practice
• Experience with automated testing and CI/CD
• Experience with relational databases and caching technologies
• Understanding of secure coding and modern authentication and authorization
• Cloud experience, e.g., Azure
• Ability to work across a mixed technology estate
• Strong communication and collaborative teamwork
