Senior Software Engineer

In this Senior Software Engineer role, you join AJ Bell’s Operational and Regulatory Technology team to deliver high-quality services and platforms. You will work in a cross-functional, Agile environment to design scalable, API-driven solutions and drive continuous improvement. The position emphasizes mentoring, architectural thinking, and delivering reliable cloud-based systems at scale. • Guide and mentor the team to design and deliver high quality products
• Consider architectural and non-functional requirements and collaborate to deliver
• Develop and maintain services and APIs with a focus on performance and scalability
• Work across the technology stack including frontend, backend, and deploy pipelines
• Implement and advocate for CI/CD and Test Driven Development
• Build and maintain scalable, highly available middle-tier components
• Familiarity with containerisation and cloud deployment (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS)
• Utilise data access technologies (EF Core) and messaging systems (RabbitMQ/SQS)
• Contribute to web API development and RESTful services with JSON

• Significant commercial experience with C#, .NET Core, Mongo and/or SQL
• Strong web development background with Angular/React/VueJs
• Experience delivering HTTP-based APIs and RESTful services
• Thorough understanding of CI/CD pipelines and TDD
• Proven record of building scalable, high-performance middle-tier components
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes, and AWS cloud-based solutions
• Familiarity with Entity Framework Core, Web API, Google Protocol Buffers, and messaging queues
• Agile/Scrum/SAFe environment experience
• Excellent communication skills and motivation; finance/e-commerce exposure preferred
