Senior Software Engineer

In this Senior Software Engineer role within AECOM’s AI Engineering team, you build production software powering AI-driven engineering products that shape infrastructure. You collaborate across backend, platform, and ML domains to deliver reliable, scalable systems with measurable real-world impact. You’ll own end-to-end delivery from design to production support while partnering with cross-functional teams. • Design and build backend services, APIs and data flows; evolve system architecture
• Own substantial work from problem definition through deployment and production support
• Collaborate with software and ML engineers, product teams and domain experts to productionize research
• Integrate models into products or build deployment/monitoring capabilities depending on background
• Trade off decisions around database design, scalability, performance, and reliability

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Strong hands-on Python programming and production backend experience
• Familiarity with FastAPI, Flask, or Django is useful
• Proven ownership of challenging production systems and impact-driven delivery
• Strong system design, architectural judgement, and debugging of production problems
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with ability to turn ambiguous problems into solutions
• Sound software development practices including automated testing, code review, version control and CI/CD
